PAA Confirms No Cyber Threat to Pakistan Airports

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) confirmed that all airports in the country remain unaffected by recent cyber attacks. While major airports in the UK and Europe faced disruptions, operations in Pakistan continued without any issues. The PAA stated that airport systems are secure and fully functional. No delays, threats, or system failures have been reported across the country.
In contrast, international airports like London Heathrow, Brussels, and Berlin suffered major disruptions. A cyber attack hit their electronic check-in systems, causing long delays. Flights were cancelled or rescheduled, and passengers faced serious inconvenience. The attack impacted critical systems used by airport staff and airlines. Authorities in affected countries are investigating the incident.
The PAA reassured passengers that airport operations in Pakistan are running normally. A spokesperson said all systems, including immigration, airline check-ins, and ground handling services, are working fine. No signs of software glitches or cyber threats have emerged so far. Routine security checks and monitoring continue across all terminals.
One of the affected systems overseas belongs to Collins Aerospace. The company confirmed a technical issue during the incident. This caused significant disruption at multiple European airports. While not all details are known, the impact was widespread. European authorities are working to restore full services quickly.
Despite global concerns, Pakistan’s aviation sector remains secure. The PAA is actively monitoring all systems to prevent any potential threats. Officials urged the public to stay calm and rely on verified updates. So far, Pakistan’s airports stand as a stable exception during this wave of international cyber attacks.
