Pak-Afghan Officials Discuss Peace, Trade, and Joint Efforts

ISLAMABAD: Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif met with Sardar Ahmad Shakeeb, Afghanistan’s Acting Ambassador to Pakistan, in Islamabad. The meeting aimed to boost Pakistan-Afghanistan ties through mutual cooperation and regular dialogue. Both sides discussed people-to-people contact, increased trade, and joint efforts to tackle shared challenges. They agreed that improving bilateral relations was vital for regional peace and economic progress.

Security remained a key topic during the meeting. Officials reviewed the current situation in both Pakistan and Afghanistan, especially in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. They exchanged views on the recent rise in unrest in the province. Barrister Saif emphasized that peace in both countries is deeply connected. He urged continuous communication to prevent further instability.

Ambassador Shakeeb assured Pakistan of full cooperation from the Afghan government. He said Afghanistan supports peaceful engagement and is ready to work with Pakistan. The two sides agreed that cross-border coordination is essential to fight terrorism. They also discussed ways to handle threats to regional security together.

In a related development, the terrorist behind the Jaffar Express attack was reportedly killed in Afghanistan. According to ARY News, Gul Rahman, also known as Ustad Mureed, died on September 17. He was found dead under mysterious conditions in Helmand province. He was the operational head of the Indian-backed group, Fitna al Hindustan.

Gul Rahman was linked to several attacks against Pakistani forces and civilians. He also targeted Chinese nationals and government institutions. His death is seen as a major blow to anti-Pakistan networks. Pakistani officials believe this development highlights the need for stronger security ties with Afghanistan.
