Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir met with William Agyapong at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Thursday to discuss matters of mutual interest, regional security, and bilateral defence cooperation.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the meeting focused on strengthening military-to-military relations between Pakistan and Ghana. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in key defence sectors and exploring new avenues of collaboration between their armed forces.

During the discussions, special emphasis was placed on counterterrorism cooperation, joint military training programmes, and defence production. The two military leaders exchanged views on regional security challenges and underscored the importance of coordinated efforts to address emerging threats and promote stability.

The meeting reflected the growing defence relationship between Pakistan and Ghana, with both countries expressing interest in expanding professional military exchanges and sharing expertise in areas of common concern. Officials noted that enhanced defence collaboration could contribute to capacity building and strengthen institutional ties between the armed forces of the two nations.

ISPR stated that the visiting Ghanaian military chief appreciated the professionalism, operational capabilities, and achievements of Pakistan’s armed forces. He acknowledged Pakistan’s experience in tackling security challenges and recognised the country’s contributions to regional and international peace efforts.

The visit also included a ceremonial welcome at GHQ, where Lieutenant General William Agyapong was presented with a guard of honour upon his arrival. The ceremony highlighted the importance Pakistan attaches to its defence relations with friendly countries and reflected the spirit of cooperation between the two militaries.

The engagement is expected to further deepen defence ties between Pakistan and Ghana, particularly in areas such as training, counterterrorism cooperation, and defence industry collaboration. Both sides expressed optimism that continued interaction would pave the way for stronger strategic and military relations in the future.
