Pakistan launched its final nationwide anti-polio campaign on Monday.The National Emergency Operations Centre announced the drive.The seven-day campaign will continue until December 21. It aims to vaccinate more than 45 million children.Health officials stressed urgency and full participation.
Meanwhile, large-scale vaccination is planned across provinces.Punjab targets more than 23 million children.Sindh aims to vaccinate over 10.6 million children.Khyber Pakhtunkhwa plans to cover 7.2 million children.Balochistan targets more than 2.6 million children.
Additionally, vaccinations will continue in smaller regions.Islamabad plans to cover over 460,000 children.Gilgit-Baltistan targets more than 228,000 children.Azad Jammu and Kashmir aims to vaccinate over 760,000 children.Officials said no area will be left out.
Furthermore, over 400,000 polio workers are deployed nationwide.Both male and female workers will perform duties.The EOC stressed protecting children is a shared responsibility.Parents were urged to cooperate with vaccination teams.Officials called polio eradication a national duty.
Earlier campaigns faced serious challenges.The October drive missed its vaccination targets.Over one million children were not vaccinated.Many children were unavailable or refused vaccines.
