Pakistan, Myanmar sign MoU to strengthen bilateral cooperation

Pakistan and Myanmar signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday to strengthen bilateral relations. The agreement reflects a shared commitment to peace, development, and expanded cooperation across multiple sectors. Leaders from both countries reaffirmed their desire to deepen ties and work closely together.

The MoU was signed in Islamabad during a formal ceremony attended by senior officials. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar represented Pakistan at the event. Myanmar’s Foreign Minister Than Shwe also participated in the signing ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, Ishaq Dar said Pakistan and Myanmar enjoy relations based on mutual respect. He emphasized that Pakistan wants peace, development, and prosperity for Myanmar. He added that Pakistan seeks to promote cooperation in all possible fields.

Earlier, delegation-level talks were held between the two foreign ministers. During these discussions, both sides reviewed all aspects of bilateral relations. They also expressed strong determination to enhance cooperation and maintain close diplomatic contact.

Furthermore, the two countries agreed to promote cultural exchanges and people-to-people contacts. They discussed increasing religious tourism and strengthening cooperation in culture and tourism. Regional and international peace and security issues were also part of the talks.

Speaking at a joint press conference, Ishaq Dar highlighted opportunities for collaboration. He said Pakistan is committed to expanding cooperation in culture, tourism, and other sectors. He added that Pakistan aims to take bilateral relations to new heights.

Meanwhile, the Myanmar foreign minister described the talks as productive and meaningful. He said Myanmar values its relationship with Pakistan and wants to expand cooperation further. He expressed confidence that stronger ties will benefit both nations in the future.
