Iran reports progress in talks mediated by Pakistan and Qatar

Iran has reported significant progress in diplomatic negotiations conducted with the mediation of Pakistan and Qatar, with Tehran claiming that some sanctions-related measures have already begun to ease following recent discussions with the United States.
Speaking after talks held in Switzerland, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said negotiations aimed at laying the groundwork for a broader agreement had produced positive results. He noted that progress had also been made regarding the implementation of commitments by all parties involved in the dialogue process.
Reacting to a joint statement issued by Pakistan and Qatar after the negotiations, Araghchi said restrictions on Iran’s oil and petrochemical exports had been lifted. He further stated that certain economic barriers had been removed and that some previously frozen Iranian assets had been released.
According to Iranian officials, the discussions focused on establishing a framework for a final agreement that could address a range of political and economic issues. Tehran described the talks as constructive and said both sides had shown willingness to continue engagement through diplomatic channels.
Earlier, Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that the negotiations had helped create a foundation for launching the next phase of discussions. Officials described the latest round of talks as an important step toward achieving a comprehensive settlement and reducing tensions.
Following the Switzerland meeting, Pakistan and Qatar issued a joint communiqué outlining the key outcomes of the dialogue. The statement said the participating sides had agreed to establish a high-level committee responsible for monitoring the negotiation process and overseeing future engagements.
The communiqué also confirmed the approval of a 60-day roadmap intended to guide discussions toward a final agreement. The roadmap is expected to serve as a structured framework for resolving outstanding issues and advancing mutual commitments.
Diplomatic observers view the reported developments as a potentially important breakthrough, although the success of any final agreement will depend on the implementation of commitments and the outcome of future negotiations.
