Public Holiday Announced in Punjab for Kashmir Day

LAHORE – The Punjab government announced a public holiday across the province on February 5 to mark Kashmir Solidarity Day. The notification was issued by the provincial authorities to ensure citizens can participate in commemorative events.

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari said that Kashmir Day would be observed with special programs, seminars, rallies, and prayer gatherings throughout the province. Citizens are encouraged to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir on this day.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz also announced a long weekend in the province. February 5 will be observed as Kashmir Day, followed by a provincial holiday on February 6 for Basant. The extended break allows families to participate in cultural and religious events.

Earlier, the federal government declared a public holiday across the country on February 5 for Kashmir Solidarity Day. The national notification encourages citizens nationwide to take part in programs supporting the Kashmiri people’s rights.

Kashmir Day is observed annually in Pakistan to reaffirm support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination. Various events, prayer gatherings, and rallies are organized to express national unity and solidarity.
