Punjab CTD Arrests 26 Terrorists in Major Operations

The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Punjab arrested 26 terrorists during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) across several cities over the past month. Authorities conducted operations amid rising concerns over terrorism and public safety. The arrests aimed to prevent planned attacks and maintain law and order. CTD officials emphasized their commitment to protecting citizens and eliminating terrorist threats across the province.
Operations were carried out in Lahore, Gujranwala, Sahiwal, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chakwal, Rajanpur, Narowal, Pakpattan, and Sargodha. Explosives and terrorist materials were recovered during raids, including three EIDs, 19 detonators, 34 feet of fuse wire, pamphlets, cash, and Prima cards. Officials stressed the significance of these recoveries in preventing violent attacks. Security forces maintained careful intelligence work to identify and apprehend the suspects efficiently.
Among those arrested, militants from Lahore were linked to Al-Qaeda. Four dangerous members of Fitna al-Khawarij were captured in Sargodha. Key suspects were identified as Irfan, Zaman Ali, Mujahid Ali, Faisal, Shiraz, Nematullah, Osama, Ghulam Yaseen, Yasir, and Imran. Officials warned that these individuals had planned attacks to spread fear among the public. The arrests demonstrate CTD’s focus on dismantling organized terrorist networks.

Over the past month, CTD conducted 286 IBO operations, 4,662 combing operations, and interrogated 160,009 people. These efforts led to the arrest of 538 suspects overall. Authorities rejected any allegations of fake encounters during these operations. Officials stated that the department follows strict procedures to ensure legality and transparency. The combined actions show a comprehensive approach to fighting terrorism.
The CTD spokesperson emphasized that operations will continue until terrorism is eradicated from Punjab. Officials pledged to maintain high alert levels and protect citizens’ lives. They also urged the public to cooperate with authorities for intelligence sharing. By targeting terrorist networks and seizing explosives, the department aims to prevent future attacks. CTD reaffirmed its commitment to securing the province and ensuring lasting peace.
