Raja Nasir Abbas Appointed Leader of Opposition in Senate, Notification Issued

Raja Nasir Abbas, head of Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen and a PTI-supported senator, has been appointed as the Leader of Opposition in the Senate, with the notification issued by Senate Secretary Hafeezullah Sheikh.
Senate Chairman Yousaf Raza Gillani announced that Raja Nasir Abbas received support from 22 out of 32 opposition senators, following which he was officially declared the Leader of Opposition.
The chairman stated that the authority to declare the Leader of Opposition rests solely with the Senate chairman, and actions will now be taken according to the established rules.

Gillani added that the delay in issuing the notification was due to judicial procedures and the matter being with the Senate Secretariat.
The appointment of Raja Nasir Abbas as opposition leader is considered a significant political development for PTI-supported factions and Majlis Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen.
The role of the Leader of Opposition in the Senate is crucial, as they oversee government decisions and articulate the opposition’s stance effectively within the house.
With the notification now issued, Raja Nasir Abbas is ready to assume his responsibilities and is expected to strengthen the opposition’s role in parliamentary proceedings.
