Section 144 Imposed in Peshawar Ahead of Muharram 2025 for Security Measures

PESHAWAR: In a move to maintain law and order during Muharram 2025, the district administration of Peshawar has imposed Section 144, restricting various activities across the city.

According to a statement from the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, pillion riding and the movement of Afghan refugees have been strictly banned throughout the period.

In addition, aerial firing, hate speech, and the misuse of loudspeakers have also been prohibited to prevent any disturbance or unrest during the religious observances.

As part of the security measures, hotel room rentals and rent-a-car services within city limits will remain suspended until further notice.

Moreover, shops refilling gas cylinders, especially those located near the routes of processions and religious gatherings (majalis), have been ordered to remain closed to avoid any potential hazards.
