Silver Smuggling Foiled at Karachi Airport, 79kg Silver Seized

Pakistan Customs successfully silver smuggling foiled at Karachi Airport after intercepting a major attempt to smuggle precious metal through air cargo. During a special operation at Jinnah International Airport, officials recovered more than 79 kilograms of silver from three parcels that had arrived from Hong Kong. Customs authorities called it a major success against smuggling networks.

According to customs officials, the seized parcels were sent from Hong Kong and were declared as “fashion jewelry” to avoid detection. However, during inspection, the officers found solid silver carefully packed inside the boxes. The parcels were being shipped to Rawalpindi.

Authorities confirmed that the total recovered silver weighed 79.18 kilograms. Customs immediately confiscated the metal and launched an investigation to trace those involved. Initial findings suggest the silver was being imported illegally without proper documentation.

Officials further said that the estimated market value of the seized silver is around 66.9 million Pakistani rupees (approximately 6.69 crore). The operation was carried out with the assistance of the Customs Intelligence Wing, which provided key information leading to the interception.

A Customs spokesperson stated that after the silver smuggling foiled at Karachi Airport, efforts are now underway to identify and arrest the people behind the smuggling network. He added that strict actions will continue against all forms of illegal trade and smuggling across the country.
