Sindh government public holidays

The Sindh government has announced two public holidays for the Christian community in December. The holidays will be observed on Quaid-e-Azam Day and Christmas, which falls on December 25. Additionally, a partial holiday is declared for Christian employees on December 26. Officials have issued a formal notification detailing the holiday schedule for all relevant institutions.

The notification states that all government, autonomous, and semi-autonomous institutions, corporations, and local councils under Sindh’s control will remain closed. Employees providing essential services are exempt from the holiday rules. The Sindh government emphasized that the holidays aim to recognize and respect the Christian community. Relevant departments have been informed to ensure proper implementation of the holiday schedule.

Copies of the notification have been sent to federal and provincial authorities. This includes the Establishment Division, Board of Revenue Sindh, Sindh High Court, Accountant General Sindh, police, and administrative secretaries. Commissioners and deputy commissioners have also been instructed to enforce the holiday announcement. Authorities will ensure that all government and semi-government institutions follow the orders correctly.

Earlier in October, the Sindh government declared a two-day holiday for Hindu employees to celebrate Diwali on October 20 and 21. The announcement allowed only Hindu staff to avail the holidays while giving importance to minority religious celebrations. The move was widely appreciated as a measure to protect minority rights and promote religious harmony.

Public reaction to the announcement has been positive. Citizens and community leaders have praised the government’s efforts to respect religious diversity. Officials hope such measures will strengthen unity and encourage mutual respect among different faith communities in the province.
