Sindh to Expand Transport Network with New Peoples Bus Routes

Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that Sindh will launch the Peoples Bus Service route from Sukkur to Shikarpur starting next week.
The announcement came during a meeting of the Transport and Mass Transit Department held under his chairmanship, where multiple initiatives were discussed to improve public transport facilities.
Officials highlighted plans to introduce new routes and enhance travel convenience for citizens, with special focus on women-friendly transport measures.
According to the department’s spokesperson, ceremonies will also be held soon to launch the Sukkur–Shikarpur bus service and distribute pink scooters for women in Sukkur and Hyderabad.
The government has also decided to procure electric (EV), hybrid, and double-decker buses in the upcoming fiscal year to modernize the transport system.
Authorities agreed to expand the transport network across Karachi and other districts to meet the needs of a growing population.
Sharjeel Memon further revealed that special planning is underway for Hyderabad, with new routes including Hyder Chowk to Kohsar and Hyderabad to Tando Allahyar expected soon.
He added that more buses will be inducted into the system next fiscal year, while EV taxi project formalities are likely to be completed by the end of this month.
