Storms and heavy rain cause damage across Punjab

Heavy rain and strong windstorms swept across several parts of Punjab on Wednesday, causing widespread disruption, property damage, and casualties in different districts. The severe weather, which followed powerful dust storms, affected transportation, electricity supply, and daily life in multiple cities.
In Lahore and several other areas of Punjab, intense rainfall and strong winds created difficulties for air travel, with flight operations experiencing disruptions due to adverse weather conditions. Authorities monitored the situation as passengers faced delays in arrivals and departures.
In Faisalabad, a house roof collapsed during the storm after heavy rain and strong winds battered the city. The incident left five people injured, who were subsequently shifted to nearby medical facilities for treatment. Rescue teams responded promptly to assist those affected.

Meanwhile, in Bahawalnagar, three people sustained injuries when a wall collapsed amid the harsh weather. Emergency respondents reached the scene and provided immediate assistance to the injured individuals.
The storm also brought tragedy to Chiniot, where lightning struck during the rain. One person lost his life while another suffered injuries in the incident. Local authorities expressed condolences to the affected family and urged residents to take precautions during severe weather conditions.
Strong winds uprooted trees in Rajanpur, Burewala, and Jahanian, causing disruptions to traffic and local infrastructure. Several electricity feeders tripped due to the storm, resulting in power outages in affected areas. Utility crews worked to restore electricity and clear damaged trees from roads.
Rainfall was also reported in several other cities across Punjab, bringing temporary relief from the intense summer heat. However, the weather system caused additional accidents in Dera Ismail Khan, where four people reportedly lost their lives in rain-related incidents.
Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious during ongoing unstable weather conditions and avoid unnecessary travel during storms. Rescue and municipal teams remain on alert as forecasts indicate the possibility of further rain and strong winds in some regions.
