Student Killed in Attack by Three Pit Bulls

A 23-year-old university student, Riley Hill, was killed in a vicious attack by three pit bulls she had been looking after in the U.S. state of Texas. The tragic incident occurred on November 21 at a home in Tyler, where Hill had been providing childcare and pet care services.
According to reports, Hill went to the backyard to bring the dogs inside when all three pit bulls suddenly attacked her. The assault was so severe that a nearby resident heard the commotion and immediately called emergency services.
When a Smith County Sheriff’s deputy arrived, Hill was found lying on the ground with critical injuries while the three pit bulls continued approaching. To protect himself and allow rescue teams to reach the victim, the deputy shot and killed one of the dogs. The remaining two dogs were seized by authorities.
Despite efforts to rush Hill to the hospital, she succumbed to her injuries on the way.
Hill was a student at the University of Texas at Tyler and was expected to graduate in six months. Her mother, Jennifer Hubbell, shared that her daughter had been caring for the family and their pets for several weeks. She also revealed that Hill had noticed unusual behavior in the dogs recently but believed the situation was manageable.
The Smith County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation into the incident. Officials are working with prosecutors to determine whether the dog owners will face criminal charges. A court hearing regarding the fate of the two surviving pit bulls is scheduled for Wednesday.
