US Confirms Deportation of 55 Iranian Nationals, Tehran Strongly Criticizes the Move

Tehran: Iran has confirmed that the United States has deported 55 Iranian nationals, saying the individuals will return home within the next few days. The deportations were verified by Iranian authorities following confirmation from the US.
According to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, the process of repatriating the detained citizens is underway, with diplomatic channels actively involved in expediting their return. Tehran criticized the decision, calling it an unnecessary show of strictness by Washington.
Officials in Iran stated that this is the second major deportation of Iranian citizens under the hardline immigration policies introduced during former US President Donald Trump’s tenure, further straining relations between the two countries.
Earlier in September, US authorities identified nearly 400 Iranian nationals scheduled for deportation, while 120 had already returned to Tehran via Doha in recent weeks.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry expressed concern over what it described as discriminatory treatment against Iranian citizens, urging the US to adopt a more transparent and humanitarian approach to immigration matters.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei also criticized the US for denying visas to the Iranian football delegation scheduled to attend the FIFA World Cup 2026 draw ceremony. He termed the decision “unfair and politically motivated.”
Tehran emphasized that it will continue to safeguard the rights of its citizens abroad and called on Washington to reconsider its immigration policies based on humanitarian principles.
