The United States has announced new sanctions targeting multiple individuals and companies accused of assisting Iran in acquiring weapons-related materials, including components linked to unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) development.

The US Department of the Treasury said on Friday that it had imposed restrictions on 10 individuals and entities based in China, Hong Kong, and other jurisdictions for allegedly facilitating Iran’s procurement networks. According to the statement, the sanctioned actors were involved in helping supply restricted materials believed to support Iran’s military programs.

Officials alleged that the network played a role in obtaining and transferring raw materials and components used in the production of “Shahed” drones, which have been widely associated with Iran’s military exports and battlefield deployments in recent regional conflicts. The Treasury Department did not provide detailed operational evidence in its public statement but said the measures were part of broader efforts to disrupt Iran’s weapons procurement channels.

US authorities said the action reflects ongoing concerns about the expansion of Iran’s drone capabilities and its alleged support for proxy groups in the Middle East. Washington has repeatedly accused Tehran of circumventing international sanctions through third-party intermediaries and complex supply chains operating across Asia and the Middle East.

The sanctions freeze any US-based assets belonging to the designated individuals and entities and prohibit American citizens and companies from conducting business with them. The Treasury Department also warned that foreign financial institutions engaging with the sanctioned parties could face secondary sanctions.

Iran has previously rejected similar US allegations, calling them politically motivated and part of Washington’s “maximum pressure” policy aimed at isolating the country economically and diplomatically.

The latest measures come amid heightened tensions in the region, where concerns about military escalation and the spread of advanced drone technology continue to shape diplomatic and security dynamics.
