Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced on Monday that the national team will play eight Test matches at home in the 2026/27 season. The schedule comes after South Africa did not host a single home Test in the 2025/26 season. The team are the reigning world Test champions, having beaten Australia in the 2023-2025 WTC final at Lord’s, England. CSA said the upcoming season is vital for maintaining momentum in the World Test Championship. Fans eagerly await the return of international cricket to South African stadiums.

South Africa will play three Tests against Australia, two against Bangladesh, and three against England. All three series will count towards the 2025-2027 World Test Championship. South Africa currently sit third in the standings after a 1-1 draw in Pakistan and a 2-0 win in India. CSA aims to strengthen its position on the WTC table. The team hopes to build on its recent successes abroad.

The Australia Tests will be played at coastal venues: Durban, Gqeberha, and Cape Town, starting on October 3. The Bangladesh series will take place in Johannesburg and Centurion during November. England will visit during the holiday period in December and January. CSA confirmed that each tour will also include three one-day internationals. Additionally, Bangladesh will play three T20 internationals in South Africa.

CSA chief executive Pholetsi Moseki emphasized the importance of both Test and white-ball cricket. He said the series will help build momentum in the WTC cycle. On the white-ball front, CSA is preparing for hosting the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in 2027. Every ODI series serves as part of this preparation. The team is focused on balancing Test dominance with white-ball development.

The full home schedule offers fans multiple cricketing events across South Africa. Tests, ODIs, and T20s will take place in Durban, Gqeberha, Cape Town, Johannesburg, Centurion, Kimberley, Benoni, Paarl, and Bloemfontein. The schedule promises high-quality cricket against top international sides. CSA hopes the season will excite fans and strengthen national team performance. South Africa aims to showcase its cricketing talent while preparing for global tournaments.
