ISLAMABAD — President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday lauded Pakistan’s security forces for successful counterterrorism operations. Both leaders reaffirmed the country’s unwavering commitment to fighting terrorism. They praised the armed forces and law enforcement agencies for protecting citizens’ lives and property.
President Zardari said the role of security forces is commendable in safeguarding the people of Pakistan. He emphasized that their dedication and bravery are vital for national stability. The president expressed gratitude for their constant efforts in protecting communities from anti-state elements.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the armed forces’ and police’s tireless work against terrorists. He said they operate day and night to ensure public safety. Sharif warned that the enemy cannot threaten Pakistan in the presence of brave officers and soldiers.
The premier added that the entire nation stands united with security forces. He praised their unwavering resolve to protect the homeland. According to him, Pakistanis support the operations against all threats to national security.

Security forces recently eliminated 11 Indian-sponsored terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the operations were conducted on 8 January 2026. These operations targeted members of the terrorist group “Fitna Al Khwari.”
An intelligence-based operation in North Waziristan district resulted in six terrorists killed after intense fire exchange. Another joint operation by police and security forces in Kurram district neutralized five militants. Weapons and ammunition were recovered from the killed terrorists.
The ISPR said the terrorists were actively involved in attacks against security forces and innocent civilians. These operations demonstrate Pakistan’s firm stance against foreign-sponsored terrorism. Officials reaffirmed that counterterrorism efforts will continue to ensure safety and stability across the country.
