Aleema Khan Ends Sit-In

The sit-in at the Gorakhpur checkpost near Adiala Jail ended after successful negotiations between police and PTI leaders. Officers met Aleema Khan and assured her that the family could meet Imran Khan soon. They confirmed a meeting for today and another for next Tuesday. The protesters accepted the assurances and dispersed peacefully. The agreement brought an immediate end to rising tensions.

Earlier, Aleema Khan led PTI supporters in a sit-in demanding access to Imran Khan. She vowed to stay until authorities granted the meeting. She accused officials of denying basic rights to her imprisoned brother. She also claimed that Imran Khan was being kept in solitary confinement. Her remarks drew strong reactions from party supporters.

Aleema Khan criticised what she called oppressive treatment of the former prime minister. She said the situation resembled “jungle law” and accused authorities of unlawful conduct. She questioned the heavy police presence at the site. She insisted the protest was peaceful and within legal rights. She also condemned the alleged mistreatment of her sister during a recent incident.

She further criticised the deployment of women police officers. She claimed the move was meant to malign women to please Maryam Nawaz. Aleema Khan said the family was not afraid of arrest. Her comments increased political tensions around the protest. PTI supporters echoed her concerns as the standoff continued.

The sit-in caused severe traffic disruption on Adiala Jail Road. Both sides of the road were blocked for hours. Ambulances and school vans were stuck in the jam. Commuters expressed frustration as delays grew longer. Reporters said the gridlock created distress for local residents until the protest ended.

Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has declared she is ready to be arrested, asserting she will not bow to pressure from authorities.

On Friday, an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi directed officials to block Aleema Khan’s national identity card (CNIC) after she repeatedly failed to appear in a case related to the November 26 PTI protest. The court also ordered the Director General of Immigration and Passports to suspend her passport and instructed the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan to freeze all her bank accounts.
