Australia PM Calls for Tougher Gun Laws After Bondi mass Shooting

Australia’s prime minister called for tougher gun laws on Monday.The call followed a deadly mass shooting at a Sydney beach.Gunmen killed 15 people during a Jewish festival.The attack happened as crowds gathered for Hanukkah celebrations.The incident shocked the nation.
Police said the alleged attackers were a father and son.They fired into crowds on the beach Sunday evening.Authorities confirmed the father was 50 years old.He legally owned six firearms under an active licence.Police believe those weapons were used in the attack.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said current gun laws need strengthening.He proposed limits on how many guns one person can own.He said the government is ready to act decisively.Albanese stressed public safety must come first.He spoke to reporters in Sydney.
Meanwhile, Albanese planned talks with state leaders.He said he would raise reforms at a National Cabinet meeting.He warned that radicalisation can happen over time.He added that gun licences should not last forever.Therefore, regular reviews may be necessary.
Mass shootings remain rare in Australia since 1996.That year, a gunman killed 35 people at Port Arthur.The massacre led to strict national gun reforms.Those laws included buybacks and weapon restrictions.Now, Albanese says it may be time to tighten them again.

The content included details from top-level meetings, intelligence briefings, and conversations with foreign leaders. He sent this material via electronic messages to his family members, referring to them as his “editors.”
