Balochistan faces severe cold wave, temperatures hit -3°C

QUETTA – A severe cold wave continues to hit Balochistan, affecting daily life across several districts of the province. The harsh weather has impacted both coastal and high-altitude areas, causing disruption in routine activities. Authorities warn that the cold spell is expected to persist in the coming days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), temperatures in northern and upper Balochistan are near the freezing point. Some areas have recorded sub-zero temperatures, while others face unusually low cold conditions. Residents in these regions are struggling to cope with the extreme weather.

Ziarat recorded the lowest temperature in the province at minus 3 degrees Celsius, while Zhob reached 0 degrees. Sibi experienced a minimum of 7 degrees Celsius, and Turbat recorded 11 degrees Celsius. Other districts also faced cold conditions, causing discomfort among locals.

Nokkundi recorded a minimum temperature of 3 degrees Celsius, while Chaman fell to 1 degree Celsius. Coastal areas were not spared, with Gwadar at 9 degrees and Jiwani at 11 degrees Celsius. The cold wave has affected both inland and shoreline communities across the province.

The PMD advised citizens to take precautionary measures, especially during early morning and night hours. Residents are urged to stay warm and protect themselves from the persistent cold conditions. Authorities continue to monitor the weather and issue updates to keep people informed.
