CJ Aminuddin vows to uphold justice, transparency in new court

Islamabad: Chief Justice Aminuddin Khan issued a statement on the establishment of Pakistan’s Federal Constitutional Court, emphasizing the protection of fundamental rights. He called the creation of the court an important milestone in Pakistan’s constitutional history, reinforcing the nation’s commitment to the rule of law.
Justice Khan assured the public that transparency, public access, and constitutional supremacy would be top priorities for the court. He pledged that every case would be handled with fairness, guided by the Constitution and the principles of justice. “The court will operate with integrity and impartiality,” he said.
The chief justice described his role as the first head of the Federal Constitutional Court as both an honor and a sacred responsibility. He stressed that the court’s duty goes beyond judicial power, directly impacting the lives and freedoms of citizens. “We aim to build a tradition of well-reasoned decisions that reflect the dignity of the judiciary,” he added.
Justice Khan expressed his commitment to making the court a beacon of public trust, emphasizing that its decisions would be based on judicial insight, integrity, and reason. He said these principles would form the foundation of the court, ensuring justice for all.
Concluding his message, the chief justice prayed for wisdom and humility in fulfilling the court’s duties. “May we serve with integrity and sincerity,” he said, pledging to uphold the Constitution and serve as a guardian of constitutional rights for future generations.

Soon after the swearing-in of the first Chief Justice of the newly created Federal Constitutional Court, Supreme Court Judge Justice Musarrat Hilali has declined her proposed transfer to the new court.
According to sources, her name was under consideration for appointment as a judge of the Federal Constitutional Court; however, she refused due to health-related issues.
Sources further confirmed that following her refusal, Justice Hilali was no longer included in the panel of judges being evaluated for the new court. The Federal Constitutional Court is being established under the 27th Constitutional Amendment, introducing significant structural changes to Pakistan’s judicial system.
