Police have registered a case against a man accused of brutally injuring a donkey in a village of Sargodha district, following reports that the animal lost an eye after being struck with a brick.

According to police officials, the incident occurred in Jhamat village of Bhera tehsil, where the suspect allegedly threw a brick at the donkey, causing severe injuries. Authorities have initiated legal proceedings and launched efforts to arrest the accused.

The donkey’s owner stated that the animal suffered permanent damage to its left eye as a result of the assault. The owner condemned the act and called for strict action against those responsible for cruelty toward animals.

Police said raids are being conducted to apprehend the suspect, who remains at large. Investigators are collecting evidence and recording statements as part of the ongoing inquiry into the case.

Officials revealed that the incident took place on April 21, but legal action was initiated after the matter came to the attention of law enforcement authorities. The case has renewed concerns about animal welfare and the need for stricter enforcement of laws protecting animals from abuse.

Animal rights advocates have repeatedly urged authorities to take stronger measures against acts of cruelty, arguing that such incidents often go unpunished despite causing significant suffering to animals. They stress that effective enforcement of existing laws is essential to deter future cases.

The latest incident follows several similar cases reported in different parts of Pakistan in recent years. Public outrage has often accompanied reports of animals being subjected to violence, neglect, or mistreatment.

Authorities have assured that legal action will be pursued in accordance with the law and that efforts are underway to bring the suspect to justice. Police have also encouraged citizens to report incidents of animal abuse so that prompt action can be taken. The investigation remains ongoing, and further developments are expected once the accused is arrested.
