A motorcyclist was killed after being hit by a tractor near Two Minute Chowrangi in Karachi’s North Karachi area, adding to the growing number of fatal traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles in the city.

According to rescue officials, the accident occurred when a tractor collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the immediate death of the rider. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and shifted the victim’s body for legal formalities.

Following the incident, an angry crowd reportedly assaulted the tractor driver, leaving him injured. Rescue teams provided first aid before transferring the injured driver to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Police officials said the tractor driver was later taken into custody from the hospital and has been formally arrested. Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident and are collecting evidence to determine responsibility.

Regional Tensions Ease as Peace Efforts Succeed, Says PM Shehbaz Sharif

The latest fatality has once again highlighted concerns over road safety and the movement of heavy vehicles on Karachi’s busy roads. Residents and traffic experts have repeatedly called for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations, particularly regarding the operation of trucks, trailers, and tractors in densely populated urban areas.

Official data shows that the number of people killed in accidents involving heavy vehicles in Karachi has reached 145 so far this year. The alarming figure reflects the persistent danger posed by large vehicles operating on city roads.

Overall, traffic accidents of various kinds have claimed 451 lives in Karachi since the beginning of the year, according to official statistics. The figures underline the ongoing road safety challenges facing Pakistan’s largest city.

Authorities have pledged to continue efforts to improve traffic management, enforce safety laws, and hold negligent drivers accountable. However, road safety advocates argue that stronger measures are needed to reduce fatalities and prevent further loss of life. The investigation into the North Karachi accident remains underway, and police are expected to submit their findings after completing the inquiry.
