Former Thai Prime Minister hosts dinner in honor of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz

Bangkok: Former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra hosted a dinner in honour of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif. The event was also attended by Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Thailand’s youngest former female Prime Minister.

Thaksin and his daughter warmly welcomed Maryam Nawaz at the reception. During the meeting, he conveyed goodwill messages for former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and praised Maryam’s vision for Punjab’s progress.

Speaking on the occasion, Thaksin Shinawatra admired the political struggle of Maryam and her father. He called their efforts inspiring and noted their dedication to public service. He also acknowledged the positive steps taken in Punjab under Maryam’s leadership.

Maryam Nawaz appreciated the contributions of Thaksin and Paetongtarn towards Thailand’s development. She highlighted the lasting impact of their reforms, which significantly improved the welfare and prosperity of the Thai people.

The Punjab Chief Minister stressed that innovation and public service are central to her vision for Punjab’s growth. She invited Thai businesses to explore opportunities in textiles, agriculture, tourism, and technology. She said Punjab’s location provides easy access to regional markets.

Maryam Nawaz also underlined the importance of cultural diplomacy, education, and tourism in strengthening ties. She praised Thailand’s institutional reforms and digital vision, while emphasising Pakistan’s efforts to skill its youth in modern fields. She concluded by thanking Thaksin and his daughter for the dinner and invited them to visit Punjab.
