Imran Khan Toshakhana-II case

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan has filed a petition in the Islamabad High Court seeking suspension of his sentence and bail in the Toshakhana-II case. His lawyers, Barrister Salman Safdar and Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry, submitted the plea on his behalf. The petition argues that the case warrants relief on both legal and medical grounds. It requests the court to review his conviction and grant him bail.

The plea highlights Imran Khan’s serious eye condition as a key reason for relief. According to a diagnosis by Dr. Muhammad Arif at PIMS, a blood clot has severely damaged his right eye. The report states that his vision in the affected eye is reduced to only 15 percent. His legal team argues that proper medical care is difficult while he remains incarcerated.

The petition also points to Imran Khan’s age, noting that he is 73 years old. His lawyers say his health and age require special consideration by the court. They stress that suspension of sentence would allow him to receive adequate medical treatment. The application urges the court to act promptly due to his deteriorating health condition.

In addition, a miscellaneous application has been filed to fix an early hearing in the £190 million case. Barrister Salman Safdar told media that hearings for both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi are expected to be scheduled on Monday. Bushra Bibi has reportedly not received bail for the past year. The legal team hopes the court will take up both matters without delay.

The petition comes amid ongoing legal challenges facing the former prime minister. His legal counsel remains confident that the court will consider the medical and legal arguments carefully. The upcoming hearings are likely to draw significant public and political attention. The Islamabad High Court will now decide on the request for suspension of sentence and bail.
