Islamabad exams postponed amid diplomatic activity

Examinations scheduled for April 9 and 10 at selected centres in Islamabad have been postponed due to ongoing diplomatic engagements in the federal capital, according to an official notification issued by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE).
The decision comes as the city hosts high-level talks involving representatives from the United States and Iran, prompting authorities to enforce strict security measures across sensitive areas. Officials stated that the exams affected include those scheduled at Islamabad Model School for Boys (VI–X), G-6/4 (Centres A and B), and Islamabad Model School for Girls (I–X), Prime Minister’s Staff Colony, G-5.
FBISE confirmed that revised dates for the postponed examinations will be announced in due course. Students have been advised to remain in contact with their respective institutions and regularly check official updates to avoid any confusion.

The postponement aligns with broader administrative steps taken to ensure public safety and smooth conduct of diplomatic activities. The Islamabad administration has already declared April 9 and 10 as local public holidays, with all educational institutions and government offices closed except essential services.
Security has been significantly tightened in key zones, particularly around the Red Zone, where diplomatic meetings are expected to take place. Movement restrictions and traffic diversions have also been implemented, affecting daily routines in parts of the city.
Authorities emphasised that the measures are temporary and aimed at facilitating important international dialogue. While the disruption has caused inconvenience for students, officials reiterated that ensuring safety and maintaining order remain the top priorities during this period of heightened diplomatic engagement.
