Karachi Announces Special Relief for Delayed Gulf-Bound Shipments

The government in Karachi announced special relief for delayed Gulf-bound shipments to support exporters. Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs Junaid Anwar confirmed the decision. He said the move aims to ease financial pressure and improve trade flow through key ports.

According to the minister, storage charges at KPT terminals will be reduced by 25 to 50 percent. This reduction will apply specifically to delayed shipments heading to Gulf countries. As a result, exporters will receive direct financial relief during ongoing logistical challenges.

In addition, the relief will also cover containers stuck at ports. Officials plan to reduce costs and speed up cargo clearance. Meanwhile, the government is working to resolve logistics issues and improve overall port efficiency for smoother operations.

Furthermore, specific terminals will offer time-based discounts. At KGTL, 50 percent storage charges will be waived from March 1 to March 20. Similarly, KICT will provide a 50 percent discount from March 1 to March 10, while SAPT will offer a 25 percent reduction from March 11 to March 31.

Finally, the minister praised KPT Chairman Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed for his efforts. He emphasized the need to align port systems with modern trade demands. Overall, Karachi announces special relief for delayed Gulf-bound shipments to strengthen exports and support economic stability.
