Kenyan Runner Honaz Loketem Kilemi Wins Istanbul Marathon

Kenya’s Honaz Loketem Kilemi won the Istanbul Marathon, while 12 Pakistani runners also took part and completed the race successfully. The event, held across two continents, saw participation from over 50,000 runners from around the world. Pakistani runners received great support from spectators and showed strong performance throughout the marathon.
In the men’s category, Honaz Loketem Kilemi finished the marathon in 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 11 seconds to claim first place. Ethiopia’s Debila and Kibato secured the second and third positions. In the women’s category, Ethiopia’s Edira Menila won with a time of 2 hours, 26 minutes, and 18 seconds.

From Pakistan, 12 runners successfully completed the 42.195 km distance. Mubarz Bin Rafiq was the fastest Pakistani, finishing in 3 hours, 21 minutes, and 30 seconds. Mujtaba Ahsan from Islamabad finished second among Pakistanis in 3 hours, 23 minutes, while Ismail Khan, based in Istanbul, completed the race in 4 hours and 3 minutes.
In the women’s category, Karachi’s Sehr Ali Janjua led Pakistani runners with a time of 4 hours and 22 minutes. Hana Malik improved her personal marathon record by 12 minutes, finishing in 4 hours and 49 minutes. Geo News sports reporter Faizan Lakhani completed his first Istanbul Marathon in 5 hours and 13 minutes.

Other Pakistani runners, including Umar Rashid, Zain Ahmed, Kashif Raza, Mahvash Hanif, Sadaf Saad, and Haziq Khalid, also completed the marathon successfully. Spectators cheered the Pakistani runners loudly, shouting slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad.” The Istanbul Marathon showcased the determination and energy of Pakistani athletes on a global stage.
