KP expands affordable housing projects across province

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government is accelerating efforts to provide affordable, quality, and secure housing to citizens through a series of large-scale development projects, officials said on Wednesday.
Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, Shafi Jan, while addressing a joint press conference with Housing Minister Dr Amjad Ali, highlighted that the provincial government has made significant progress in the housing sector over the past decade. He stated that under the vision of Imran Khan, the government successfully completed seven major housing schemes costing Rs34 billion.
These projects, developed over 9,497 kanals, have delivered 10,477 housing units, including plots and flats, aimed at improving living standards and expanding access to planned residential infrastructure.
Shafi Jan added that work is currently underway on seven additional large-scale housing projects with an estimated cost of Rs31 billion. Once completed, these initiatives will provide approximately 38,784 residential units across 30,447 kanals, significantly boosting housing availability in the province.

Highlighting pro-poor initiatives, he said the government has launched the Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme, offering interest-free loans of up to Rs1.5 million to eligible individuals for house construction and expansion. So far, funds have been disbursed to 114 beneficiaries through a transparent balloting process, while the second phase is already in progress.
He further announced that the PC-I of the flagship New Peshawar Valley project, spanning over 106,000 kanals, has been approved. The project is expected to transform urban development in the region.
Other ongoing projects include Jarma Township, Bani Gul City Bannu, Hangu Township, Dangram Housing Scheme Swat, and Mega City Nowshera. Authorities have also digitised housing services through the Dastak App to ensure transparency and ease of access for the public.
