Maid and accomplice arrested over Rs2.9 million theft in Rawalpindi

Police in Rawalpindi have arrested a domestic worker and her alleged accomplice in connection with the theft of Rs2.9 million from a house in the city.
According to police officials, the theft case was registered on May 2 at New Town Police Station after the homeowner reported that a large amount of cash had been stolen from the residence.
Investigators launched an inquiry following the complaint and traced the suspects through preliminary evidence and questioning. Police stated that the detained woman had been employed as a domestic worker at the house and was living with her parents in servant quarters located on the property.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to committing the theft with the help of an accomplice. Authorities said both individuals admitted involvement in stealing the cash from the residence.

Law enforcement officials said the arrests were made after a coordinated operation based on technical and human intelligence. The suspects are currently in custody and legal proceedings have been initiated against them.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns regarding theft cases involving household employees and the need for proper verification and security measures when hiring domestic staff.
Police advised citizens to complete employee registration processes, maintain proper records, and install surveillance systems to help prevent similar incidents. Authorities also urged residents to promptly report suspicious activity to local law enforcement agencies.
The case remains under investigation, and police say additional details will be shared once the recovery process and legal formalities are completed.
