France will increase cooperation with the Lebanese Armed Forces and provide armoured vehicles. President Emmanuel Macron announced operational and logistical support to prevent Lebanon from being drawn deeper into the Middle East war. He urged Israel not to expand military operations into Lebanon. Macron also called on Iranian leaders to avoid pulling Lebanon further into the conflict. These steps follow a request from Lebanese President Joseph Aoun to prevent attacks on Beirut’s southern suburbs.
The situation escalated after Israel launched airstrikes on Beirut, targeting the Hezbollah stronghold in the south. Hezbollah retaliated with rockets and drones across the border into Israel. Lebanese state media reported overnight strikes on eastern towns, including Dours at dawn. Health authorities confirmed 123 people have died since Monday. Additionally, more than 90,000 residents have been displaced due to the conflict.
Meanwhile, Macron announced the immediate dispatch of humanitarian aid to Lebanon. Several tonnes of medicines, shelter materials, and assistance supplies are being sent. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot confirmed medical and humanitarian equipment will arrive by next week. France aims to prevent regional escalation while protecting its citizens and allies. Macron emphasized that both Israel and Hezbollah must exercise restraint to avoid further civilian harm.
