Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan achieved a significant milestone on Sunday by playing his 100th One-Day International (ODI) match. The match, part of the series against Sri Lanka, was held at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Rizwan made the occasion memorable by scoring an unbeaten 61 runs off 92 balls, leading Pakistan to victory. This half-century was his 19th in ODIs.
Rizwan, who made his ODI debut in 2015 against Bangladesh, is now the 33rd Pakistani cricketer to reach 100 ODI appearances. His achievement places him alongside cricket legends like Imran Khan, Javed Miandad, Inzamam-ul-Haq, and Wasim Akram. Other modern-day greats, including Shahid Afridi, Babar Azam, Mohammad Hafeez, and Shoaib Malik, also share this honor.
Shahid Afridi holds the record for the most ODIs for Pakistan, with 393 matches. He is followed by Inzamam-ul-Haq, with 375 matches, and Wasim Akram, with 356 matches. Rizwan’s achievement adds him to an elite group of players who have represented Pakistan in 100 or more ODIs.
Pakistan’s white-ball head coach, Mike Hesson, congratulated Rizwan in a special video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Hesson praised Rizwan for his energy, skill, and dedication to Pakistan cricket. He expressed confidence that Rizwan would continue to perform at a high level for the team.
Rizwan is currently the fourth-highest run-scorer among Pakistan wicketkeepers in ODIs, with 2,921 runs. Moin Khan leads the list with 3,266 runs, followed by the Akmal brothers, Kamran and Umar. Rizwan has also accumulated 106 dismissals in 79 innings, placing him fifth behind Moin Khan, Rashid Latif, Kamran Akmal, and Sarfaraz Ahmed.
