Pam Bondi responds after removal as attorney general

Former US Attorney General Pam Bondi has broken her silence after being removed from office by Donald Trump, marking the second high-profile cabinet exit in recent weeks.
Following her dismissal, Trump took to his social media platform to praise Bondi, describing her as a “great American patriot” who had served faithfully during her tenure. He also indicated that she would soon transition to a new role in the private sector, with further details expected to be announced.
In her first public response after the decision, Bondi issued a statement on X, defending her performance and expressing gratitude for the opportunity to serve. She described her time at the Department of Justice as one of the most consequential periods in its history and thanked Trump for placing his trust in her leadership.

Bondi also confirmed that Todd Blanche would take over her responsibilities, assuring a smooth and “tireless” transition process. She emphasised her commitment to maintaining continuity within the department despite the sudden leadership change.
Her tenure had remained under scrutiny due to ongoing controversies, particularly surrounding the handling of investigations linked to Jeffrey Epstein. These issues had drawn criticism and kept the Department of Justice in the spotlight during her time in office.
Just days before her removal, Bondi had accompanied President Trump to the US Supreme Court for hearings in a key case related to birthright citizenship, highlighting her active role in major legal matters until the end of her tenure.
The development reflects ongoing shifts within the administration, with analysts noting that leadership changes at this level could have broader implications for legal and policy direction in the United States.
