LAHORE – Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has established a provincial Economic Transformation Committee to strengthen sector-wise development and boost the economy.

The 11-member committee will be led by Senior Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, with the Finance Secretary serving as committee secretary. They will oversee planning and implementation.

The committee will also set actionable indicators and develop short- and long-term timelines for economic initiatives. Plans will be made with private-sector input.

It will focus on skill development programs tailored to industry needs and link locally produced value-added products to global value chains.

Additionally, the committee aims to create a sustainable ecosystem that supports long-term economic growth across Punjab. Policies will target feasibility and impact.

Proposals include developing specialized industry hubs: dairy in Sahiwal, IT in Lahore, garments in Faisalabad, surgical goods in Gujranwala, and rice exports in Gujrat.
