Punjab Police to Provide Bulletproof Vehicles for ATC Judges

LAHORE – Punjab Police has decided to purchase 11 new bulletproof vehicles to strengthen security for anti-terrorism court (ATC) judges. The decision comes amid increasing threats to the judicial system. Authorities aim to ensure the safety of judges during official duties and court proceedings. Inspector General of Punjab Police Usman Anwar has forwarded a summary of Rs238.6 million to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for approval. The summary outlines the costs involved in purchasing and armoring the vehicles. It also emphasizes the importance of judicial security in maintaining law and order. Officials said the Deputy Inspector General of the Security Division in Lahore will serve as the focal person for this project. This step shows coordinated planning within the police department.
The cost of acquiring 11 vehicles is estimated at Rs141.8 million, with each vehicle priced at Rs12.8 million. In addition, Rs96.8 million is required for bulletproofing the vehicles. Each armoring job will cost approximately Rs8.8 million. Authorities noted that these expenses are essential to ensure high-level protection. The detailed breakdown reflects the seriousness of the security threats faced by ATC judges.
