Trump described the moment as shocking, recalling loud crashing sounds during the chaos. He mentioned that Melania Trump immediately sensed danger when the noise erupted in the hall.
The president confirmed that one security officer was hit by a bullet but survived due to wearing a bulletproof vest. He also stated that the incident does not appear to be linked to any Iran-related tensions.
According to Trump, the suspect, who has been arrested, is reportedly from California. Authorities are investigating whether the individual acted alone or had accomplices.
