Virat Kohli Breaks Tendulkar’s ODI Century Record

Virat Kohli made history on Sunday by surpassing Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most centuries in a single format. Kohli’s knock broke Tendulkar’s long-standing record of 51 centuries in ODIs. He reached this landmark in the 38th over of India’s innings. Despite being dismissed while attempting a lofted shot, Kohli’s innings was a testament to his batting prowess. His remarkable form has continued to captivate fans and critics alike.
This century added to Kohli’s already impressive achievements in 2025. Earlier this year, he became the fastest batter to reach 14,000 runs in ODIs. Kohli’s century anchored India’s dominant total of 349 for 8 in 50 overs. He was well-supported by half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul. South Africa fought back with a spirited chase but could only manage 332 runs before being bowled out in 49.2 overs. It was a thrilling high-scoring contest.
