ECP Releases New Schedule for Punjab By-Elections

ISLAMABAD, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released an updated schedule for the upcoming by-elections in five constituencies across Faisalabad and Sahiwal. The elections, which were previously postponed due to severe flooding and water discharge from India, will now be held on November 23, 2025.
According to the official notification, the constituencies where polls will take place include NA-96, NA-104, NA-143, PP-98, and PP-203.
Key dates in the revised schedule are as follows:

October 24: Last date to file appeals against decisions made by Returning Officers.

October 31: Deadline for the Appellate Tribunal to announce its decisions on all appeals.

November 1: Publication of the final list of candidates.

November 3: Final date for withdrawal of candidatures.

November 4: Allocation of election symbols to contesting candidates.
The by-elections are being organized under the provisions of the Election Act, 2017, and the ECP has urged all political parties and candidates to strictly follow the prescribed code of conduct throughout the process.
Punjab Local Government Elections Scheduled for December
In a related development, the ECP has also confirmed that local government elections in Punjab are set to be held in the last week of December 2025. These polls will be conducted under the Local Government Act 2022.
To facilitate the process, the Commission has instructed that delimitation of constituencies begin from October 21, with the entire process to be completed within two months. The elections will take place in accordance with existing laws, ensuring a structured and legally compliant electoral process for local bodies across the province.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has released the official schedule for the upcoming by-election to fill the vacant Senate seat from Punjab, following the recent passing of senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, Senator Prof. Sajid Mir.
According to the ECP notification, polling for the Senate seat will be held on May 29, 2025, inside the Punjab Assembly building in Lahore. The electoral process is set to formally begin with the issuance of a public notice on May 13.
