Several civilians were injured after cross-border shelling struck a residential area in South Waziristan’s Angoor Adda, according to security and local administration officials.

Sources said the incident occurred on April 29, when mortar rounds were fired from across the border into a populated locality near Angoor Adda. One of the shells reportedly hit the houses of two residents, identified as Karim Khan and Rehmatullah, injuring members of their families.

Medical officials confirmed that five injured individuals, including three children, were brought to a local hospital for treatment. According to Dr Ashfaq, the victims sustained injuries due to the impact of the mortar shell.

Separately, the deputy commissioner of South Waziristan Lower provided a broader assessment of the damage, stating that multiple homes were affected due to the shelling and firing. He said a total of eight people, including women and children, were injured in the incident.

Authorities added that the injured were initially given first aid in the area before being shifted to hospitals in Dera Ismail Khan and Peshawar for further medical care.

The incident has raised concerns over civilian safety in border regions, where residents often remain vulnerable to cross-border tensions. Officials have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances of the shelling or any immediate response measures.

Local administration has begun compiling damage reports and assessing the extent of losses caused to homes and property in the affected area. Residents have called for enhanced security measures to prevent such incidents and ensure the protection of civilian populations living along the border.

The situation remains under monitoring as authorities continue to gather information and provide assistance to affected families.
