Atta Tarar Says Dialogue Possible Only If PTI Distances Itself from Imran Khan’s Narrative

Federal Information Minister Atta Tarar has reiterated that dialogue with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is only possible if the party distances itself from the narrative of its founder, Imran Khan. He said the government will not allow the country to be pushed into political uncertainty or instability.
In a statement, Tarar made it clear that if the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa attempts to visit Adiala Jail, he will be asked to return. He emphasized that no political gathering or show of strength will be permitted outside the jail premises.
The information minister added that Sohail Afridi would also be turned back from the first checkpoint. He said all administrative decisions are being taken strictly according to the law and no special privileges will be granted to anyone.
Atta Tarar further stated that even if the sisters of the PTI founder arrive at the jail, their arrest cannot be ruled out. He emphasized that the law is equal for everyone and no exceptions will be made.

In an interview, he said the government will not allow the country’s stability to be endangered and that weakening state institutions is unacceptable. National interest, he added, must remain the top priority.
He again stressed that reconciliation is possible but only if PTI adopts a responsible position and practically distances itself from its previous approach. According to him, seriousness and political maturity are essential for any future talks.
Two days earlier, Atta Tarar had stated that no one would be allowed to meet Imran Khan and that no crowd or political activity would be permitted outside Adiala Jail. The government maintains that strict adherence to law is necessary to avoid complications.
