The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has taken a significant step by enabling free Starlink internet services in Iran during an extended nationwide internet shutdown.

According to U.S. media, Musk’s company SpaceX is now providing free internet access to Iranian users via Starlink satellite services, as the country has been offline for several days.

Reports indicate that previously inactive Starlink accounts in Iran have been reactivated, and subscription fees have been completely waived.

U.S. media further reported that the Iranian government has deployed jammers in several locations to block the free internet service, but connectivity remains active in many areas.

On Wednesday, Iran entered the 18th day of nationwide protests, while authorities continue to restrict the country’s access to the outside world.

Internet monitoring platform NetBlocks stated that Iran has remained offline for more than 120 hours, severely impacting communication and access to information.

Earlier, U.S. President Donald Trump had mentioned plans to approach Elon Musk to restore internet services in Iran through Starlink, a move widely seen as supporting digital freedom and public access to information.
