Punjab CM sends 25 ambulances after Islamabad suicide blast

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif ordered the immediate dispatch of 25 fully equipped ambulances to Islamabad. The move followed a deadly suicide blast at an imambargah in Islamabad’s Tarlai area. The attack happened during Friday prayers when the hall was crowded with worshippers. As a result, dozens of people were killed and injured in the explosion. Rescue and medical efforts began without delay.

Meanwhile, Maryam Nawaz placed all hospitals across Rawalpindi district on high alert. She activated emergency medical arrangements to treat the injured quickly. Furthermore, surgical teams and specialist doctors were placed on standby. These teams included anaesthetists, orthopaedic surgeons, and neurosurgeons. Operation theatres were also fully prepared for emergency procedures.

In addition, blood banks received orders to ensure full staff presence. Hospitals stocked all required medical equipment for emergency surgeries. Maryam Nawaz stressed timely and effective treatment for all victims. She emphasized coordination between Islamabad and Rawalpindi hospitals. This coordination aimed to handle the large number of casualties.

According to officials, at least 31 people were martyred and 169 were injured. The suicide bomber detonated explosives inside Imambargah Khadijah al-Kubra. Eyewitnesses said security guards stopped the attacker at the entrance. Gunfire was exchanged before the bomber detonated the explosives. Despite resistance, the attacker managed to carry out the blast.

Soon after, rescue teams rushed victims to nearby hospitals. Law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched investigations. The Pakistan Army and Rangers assisted in securing the site. Hospitals in Islamabad and Rawalpindi declared medical emergencies. Authorities linked the attack to militants described as Fitna al-Khawarij.
