An alleged Rs25 billion corruption scandal has been exposed in the Sindh Workers Welfare Board, raising serious concerns about misuse of public funds. Trade unions revealed the claims during a press conference in Karachi. They said the scandal highlights major financial irregularities affecting workers’ welfare programs.

Moreover, union leaders alleged that Rs8 billion meant for workers’ insurance was illegally issued to a private company. They also claimed that billions were lost through fake repair tenders. These funds, they argued, could have been used to build housing and improve facilities for workers.

In addition, the leaders pointed to several questionable contracts under welfare schemes. They said Rs3 billion was allocated for an e-bike scheme, while Rs700 million went to sewing machine projects under suspicious deals. They also raised concerns about a costly office purchase in Clifton that remains unused.

Furthermore, labor representatives, including Nasir Mansoor and Zehra Khan, criticized payments made under a digitalization project. They claimed Rs450 million was spent without any visible results. They vowed to continue their struggle against what they described as anti-worker practices.

Finally, the unions demanded strict accountability and recovery of the allegedly looted funds. They urged leaders, including Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the Sindh chief minister, to intervene immediately. The alleged Rs25 billion corruption scandal has been exposed in the Sindh Workers Welfare Board, they said, must be investigated to restore trust and protect workers’ rights.
