Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari paid tribute to former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto on her 18th death anniversary. President Asif Ali Zardari also paid homage to Benazir Bhutto, praising her dedication to democratic principles. He said she reminded Pakistanis that true retribution lies in democracy. Zardari highlighted her role as the first woman Prime Minister in the Muslim world, elected twice by the people. He added that her life and sacrifice are inseparable from Pakistan’s democratic struggle. According to the president, Benazir Bhutto worked tirelessly for the constitution, parliament, and citizens’ right to vote.

President Zardari further emphasized her efforts to promote inclusion and social development in Pakistan. He said she spoke for farmers, laborers, minorities, and marginalized communities. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute, calling Benazir Bhutto a symbol of hope, resilience, and commitment to democracy. He said her national and political services would always be remembered. Naqvi highlighted her faith in the power of the people and her dedication to the principles of justice and equality. Overall, Pakistani leaders agreed that Benazir Bhutto’s legacy continues to inspire democracy and national unity across the country.

The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on December 27 to mark the 18th death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto. Government offices and local councils across the province will remain closed to honor her memory.

A formal notification from the Services, General Administration, and Coordination Department confirmed the closure. All provincial government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils will observe the holiday.

The announcement aims to allow citizens and officials to pay tribute to the former prime minister. Various commemorative events and gatherings are expected throughout the province.
