China has publicly showcased its latest intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM), DF-5C, for the first time during a military parade marking the 80th anniversary of victory in World War II.
According to Chinese media, the DF-5C has a range of over 20,000 kilometres, giving it the capability to strike targets anywhere in the world. The missile travels at hypersonic speeds, making it extremely difficult for current defence systems to intercept.
Key Features of the DF-5C:
Multiple independently targetable reentry vehicles (MIRVs) – capable of striking several targets simultaneously
Equipped to carry nuclear, conventional, or decoy warheads
Modular transport system enabling faster launch preparation
Advanced guidance technologies, including the BeiDou navigation system, for high precision targeting
Defence analysts state that the DF-5C’s extended range and cutting-edge technology significantly enhance China’s strategic deterrence, allowing it to respond swiftly and effectively to any nuclear threat across the globe.
