In a tragic incident in India’s southern state of Karnataka, a bride and her parents reportedly died by suicide just one day before her wedding, according to Indian media reports.

Police said the deceased include 50-year-old father Shivanna, 45-year-old mother Nagarthna, and their 21-year-old daughter Rakshitha. All three were found dead at their home after allegedly consuming poison. Authorities believe the family had been under severe emotional and psychological stress in the days leading up to the incident.

Rakshitha’s wedding was scheduled to take place the following day, making the tragedy even more shocking for the local community.

According to initial investigations, a local resident identified as Alas Gowda allegedly wanted to marry Rakshitha. When her engagement was arranged with another man, he reportedly began spreading negative information about her within the community. Police also said that he allegedly sent Rakshitha’s private images and messages to her fiancé in an attempt to disrupt the marriage.

Indian media reports further state that investigators recovered a handwritten note from the scene, in which Alas Gowda was allegedly held responsible for the deaths of the bride and her parents. Following the discovery, police registered a case against him and several others.

Authorities have launched a detailed investigation, examining suicide notes, digital communications, and other evidence to determine the exact circumstances that led to the deaths. Officials are also verifying allegations of harassment and cyber-related misconduct as part of the probe.

The incident has sparked widespread concern over mental health pressures, online harassment, and social stigma surrounding marriage disputes in rural India, highlighting the devastating consequences such conflicts can have on families.
