At least eight Pakistani citizens were shot and killed on Saturday in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan province, near the Afghanistan border. The shooting happened at a car repair workshop in the Mehrestan district.

The victims were car mechanics. Among them were the shop owner Delshad, his son Naeem, and others named Jafar, Danesh, and Nasir. All were from Punjab, Pakistan.

Iranian authorities have started an investigation. They said the bodies will be sent back to Pakistan after legal steps are completed.

So far, the Pakistani government has not made an official statement.
