A fire broke out at the historic Mosque-Cathedral of Córdoba in Spain due to a short circuit in a floor-cleaning machine. The blaze affected a nearby section of the building but was swiftly brought under control by the fire brigade.

According to international media, emergency teams quickly evacuated the area and extinguished the fire. Police and rescue personnel remained on-site throughout the night as a precaution.

Córdoba’s mayor praised the firefighters for their prompt response, saying their efforts prevented a major disaster.

The Mosque-Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was originally a mosque and later converted into a cathedral.

Footage and images of the fire went viral on social media, sparking public concern. Local media report that the site reopened to tourists on Saturday, although the affected section remains closed.
